Student Program

Here are some activities offered during COM.

Call to Our Industry Leaders

Do we have a succession plan? Help us ensure we keep encouraging students pursue our industry.

The Metallurgy and Materials Society of CIM (MetSoc) is a non-profit organization that actively serves the needs of professionals in the global metallurgy and materials community. To this end, we also aim to support and encourage students to pursue careers in our industries.

As part of our initiative to support student interest in our industry, we are preparing some activities at COM 2015 - AMCAA aimed specifically for students and are requesting the help of our members. We would like to help as many students as possible attend COM2014 in Vancouver, and thus we are reaching out to the leaders in the industry and seeking support for student activities.

All of our student supporters will be invited to the student industry mixer so that you may see for yourself what and how our students are engaging in this conference.

Poster Competition

Poster Instruction for All; student participation is strongly encouraged.

Student Activities

A number of activities will be organized exclusively for students attending the conference. More details will be posted at a later date.

Travel Funding

Financial assistance is available to support student who travel more than 500km to the conference. Requests are pooled and a limited number of students will be selected to receive funds. Priority will be given to undergraduate students at a Canadian University. Students are advised approximately one month prior to the conference and the ceiling budget for travel is $500. Any request by a student for travel funding for COM will include a letter of support from their current supervisor.
