MS&T Welcome Reception: Network with your colleagues, meet new people and learn about the exciting membership offerings of the organizing Societies.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 28

MetSoc Annual General Meeting & Awards Banquet: On Monday evening, MetSoc will honour its outstanding members by presenting the Society Awards. The Society will also host its Annual General Meeting and will feature the inauguration of the new MetSoc of CIM President. MetSoc members and guests are welcome. MetSoc Hydrometallurgy Luncheon:
The Hydrometallurgy Section of MetSoc will hold their Annual General meeting and present the Hydrometallurgy scholarships and the 2013 Gordon Ritcey award. Tickets can be purchased through registration.

Ram RaoDr. Ram Rao Memorial Lunch: A lunch reception will be held to remember Dr. Ram Rao, a former professor at McGill University. Dr. Rao was a great supporter and contributor to MetSoc and the Environment Section. He was the recipient of the Teck Environmental Award in 2006. Dr. Rao played a key role in organizing the Waste Processing and Recycling and WALSIM Symposia as well as editing the proceedings. This event is held in conjunction with the Environment Section Lunch and is by invitation only.


MetSoc Student Mixer: Representatives from industry and students are invited to meet informally at the mixer. Students will be given the opportunity to network with industry leaders so don't forget your resume. The event is free for students.


Buy ticketsRalph Lloyd Harris Events: The Non-Ferrous Pyrometallurgy Committee Ernest_Mastis hosting a box lunch for the Ralph Harris Memorial Symposium on Tuesday, October 29. Our guest speaker, Ernest Mast, will speak about ''Improvements through mentoring, lessons from Ralph Harris'. Tickets are available through registration.

Ernest is currently the VP Operations for New Gold Inc., an intermediate gold producer with four mines operating in Canada, USA, Mexico and Australia. Previously he was President and CEO of Minera Panama, a subsidiary of Inmet Mining Corporation, where he headed up Inmets's major development project in Panama. Prior to working with Inmet, Ernest worked with Xstrata and its preceding companies Falconbridge and Noranda for 20 years in various positions including President and General Manager of the Falcondo operations in the Dominican Republic. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Metallurgical Engineering.

McGill_Thomson_House

On Tuesday night, a chili night, an event that reflects Ralph's annual traditions, will be hosted at the Thomson House, located on McGill University campus. Beer will be available for purchase separately. This will be a great opportunity for people to rise a glass to the late professor Harris, share some personal moments with others and connect with people who have been touched by him. A Trust fund supporting those affected by DiGeorge Syndrome will be in place. Tickets are available through registration. Purchase tickets to the Chili Night now!
