The Julian Boldy Memorial Award commemorates the exceptional contributions made to the Geological Society of CIM by the late Julian Boldy.

“In recognition of outstanding contributions to uranium exploration and development, in addition to his dedicated involvement in the CIM Geological Society, particularly as 2008-2010 president.”

Daniel Brisbin obtained his B.Sc. (Honours) in geological sciences, M.Sc. in mineral exploration and PhD from Queen's University. He has 30 years of experience in mine exploration and research geology of uranium, gold, base metal, and platinum group metal deposits. He is currently chief geoscientist, generative for Cameco Corporation in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Brisbin is registered as a professional geoscientist in Saskatchewan and Ontario and is a fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists and the Geological Association of Canada, and a member of CIM and PDAC. He has volunteered at the branch and national levels of the CIM Geological Society and was chair of the 2006 Field Conference held in Saskatoon.
