Medal for Bravery

Medal for Bravery - Description

This medal, founded in 1933 by a Past President of the Institute, Everett Alfred Collins, donor of the medals and initial Chairman of the Medal for Bravery Committee, has become established as the Victoria Cross of the Institute. It recognizes great valour displayed by men of the minerals industries who knowingly risk their lives in attempting to rescue a fellow worker. Each recipient of the medal also receives an embossed citation of his heroic conduct.

Awards of the medal are made by CIM Council on the recommendation of the Medal for Bravery Committee, listed with the Institute Special Committees.
