Multiscale Modelling and Simulations of Failure in Structural Materials
The purpose of the symposium is to highlight achievements in multi-scale modeling and simulation of failures in structural materials, and to encourage research and development in this field with the aim of improving the safety and reliability of engineered materials and structures. Understanding structural behaviour at the various size scales requires expertise in manipulating continuum modelling and continuum mechanics, thermodynamic modelling, micro-mechanical modelling and atomistic modelling. This has the potential to open up new uses and classes of materials with wide ranging implications for the materials industry.
