As part of Teck Resources, CESL focuses on sustainable external and internal growth opportunities, technology transfer and improvement projects. CESL technology can treat a wide range of concentrates through to metal in an environmentally sound manner, including those which are challenged by low-grades and contain deleterious elements. Recent projects include:

Copper
  • Economical treatment of arsenic-bearing Cu concentrates yielding LME grade A cathode and highly stable residues
  • Sustainable processing of mercury-bearing Cu concentrates; with mercury deportment to a controlled sulphide product
  • Processing of bismuth-bearing Cu concentrates to improve salability

  • Nickel
  • Extensive testing of bulk concentrates (eg. Cu-Ni) to recover all payable metals
  • Economical treatment of lower grade Ni concentrates; including those with elevated Mg content
  • High recovery of platinum group metals from processing of various Ni- and Ni-Cu concentrates

  • In addition to the proprietary CESL technology, CESL frequently works with partners to evaluate a variety of hydrometallurgical technology applications using its extensive bench, pilot, and demonstration facility in Richmond, British Columbia.
